We asked Chrystelle a few questions...
- What does shoes mean to you?
- Oh I love shoes, that’s usually how I start building my looks. I start with picking out what shoes to wear and then I build on that. What I’ve learnt through the years is that you can look equally good in flat shoes as you can with heels. It’s about the attitude and if you’re going to wear heels it’s super important with comfort for me. The worst thing I know is shoe chafing and shoes in synthetic materials, so soft leather is everything for me and my feet.
- 3 must haves for you in your closet?
When it comes to shoes it has to be variation. I can’t cope without a good pair of sneakers + a nice hiphop cap, a pair of sexy heels and during summer it’s flip flops. In the clothing segment I love to botanize among menswear. I get much inspiration from how traditional men dressed in the 90’s.
- Do you have any styling tips when putting together your outfit for the day?
I go a lot by feeling and my daily form. I’ve never been the one that plans the outfit the night before because I never know what I will feel like wearing the next morning. I love stepping into different characters and pretending to be someone else every now and then. I've realized now that I'm actually quite styleless. There’s many styles that I jump between and it has always been something that I've known is my style.
- What is your favorite shoe (heel, sneaker, sandal etc.)
- Oh that’s a hard question. I will have to pick boots. I love to walk around in rubber boots and I own a few pair. I think It has been there since childhood, when you were allowed to jump freely in puddles.
- Do you have any favourite Blankens shoe?
- Yes, my black The Sanremo Sempre is definitely my favourite Blankens shoes at the moment. It’s a sturdy sandal with fantastic soft leather that doesn’t rub anywhere. My father used to rock similar shoes in brown when I was younger and he’s my biggest style icon. When I saw The Sanremo Sempre they were a given for the summer. I style mine to everything during summer - linen trousers, shorts, satin skirts. They work with everything in my summer closet.
