Like all Blankens shoes, The Amal is handcrafted in a small, family-run factory in northern Portugal. We prioritize planet-conscious production, using premium, responsibly sourced leather from Gold Rated Leather Working Group (LWG) tanneries, ensuring high-quality materials and a lower environmental impact. The smooth black leather upper is carefully selected for its substantial grain, structured longevity, and beautiful natural shine, while the striking apron stitching is meticulously finished by hand. This is thoughtful craftsmanship designed to look incredible season after season and to age beautifully over time.

The Amal is a women’s leather loafer featuring a bold, traditional kiltie design. Crafted from premium black LWG-certified leather, it is distinguished by a rounded toe, hand-stitched apron seams along the front, and a classic fringed kiltie flap topped with double leather tassels across the vamp. Built with a robust, structured leather upper that maintains its form, it is set on a substantial, textured luged rubber outsole that offers excellent grip, stability, and a modern, chunky silhouette. Combining heritage tailoring elements with a contemporary, urban edge, The Amal delivers reliable all-day comfort with maximum wardrobe utility.

By cleaning, conditioning, and protecting the leather, you preserve its suppleness, prevent cracks, and maintain its natural shine. Think of it as skincare — for your most trusted companions. A small ritual that makes a big difference, keeping your Blankens favorites fresh and ready for every season.
We recommend using a protective spray, such as the Water Proofer, before first wear and reapply regularly to guard against moisture and stains.
Don't forget the inside. Refresh the insole by cleaning it with The Foam Cleaner.
We recommend storing them in a cool, dry place when not in use, with a shoe tree or paper stuffing to maintain shape. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and direct heat.
The inner sole length is measured from heel to toe. Add a bit of extra space for the feet. For shoes with a pointed toe, keep in mind that your foot will not extend all the way into the pointed end.
